i was in namrup on june 26 and 27 after a long gap of 12 years. union fertliser and chemicals minister ram vilas paswan was there to flag off the revamped namrup-3 plants and also announced a new factory would be set up at a cost of rs 2500 cr within next 4-5 years.

i went to my old school (model school). sr mercy is the current hm. the school appeared to be in bad shape. the old green-roofed kg class bldg is being dismantled. one girl has got a position among top 20 in the assam high school finals. but three have also failed.

Hi Samudra da,

I have never talked to you before but I know your sister Renee and have seen you several times. We used to visit Ashifa ba and Jennifer, next door neighbours. Your sister was 2 yrs senior to me in school.

I have read you articles on newspaper and take great pride in informing my husband that you are from Namrup

Its sad to hear the condition of our school. Is there anything we could do?

Thats all for now. If you have pictures of Namrup, please upload them.

Thanks,
Sultana Parveen (Rita)

Hi I have  just  joined this club.  Its sad to hear that the school is in bad shape.   I passed out  from the school in 1977.  I am trying to recall you and others senior to me.  I  like  you joined the school when it first started.  Before that  we use to go in bus loads to Naharkatiya.  And  then i day the bus went kaput and we did'nt get back home till late in the night.   Well  within no time the school had moved to Namrup.

That was many years back, perhaps  1969.  We has Sr. Teresa as the Principal  then  who later  went on  to become Mother Superior.    Does any  one remeber Sr. Daffodil for her caning ????

Hi Samudra

I now remember you.  You were  a tall lanky guy?? right ???  If I am not mistaken you were with Pradeep, Neli Hazarika  from  Naharkatiya etc...  I was  with Ajay Sharma, Ruby, Sunita Jain.

This is a great way to find old friends.  How I wish others would discover  this site.

Since you seem to visit Namrup, how about putting a few pictures on the net.   The school, the club, etc etc.  I left Namrup in   1977 and have never been able to go back.  My closest contact to the place now is taking junior Advocates in my office from Assam.   God bless me!!! but what a criteria???

I look forward to seeing some pictures from that wonderful  place.

I was in Namrup from 1975 to 1978 which is a pretty short period. But Namrup is very close to my heart. Often my friends and relatives would ask me 'what's there in Namrup which makes it your favourite place?' That's a question which only Namrupities can answer and they will give a reply which others wont understand. When I purchased my vehicle, my first trip was to my hometown Guwahati, second to my in laws at Dibrugarh and third to Namrup from Dibrugarh. I stayed in Namrup for hardly two hours and practically did not know anyone there. My family members were stunned!!!. why did you go there if you didn't know anyone there now? I couldn't answer and moreover they would not have understood my answer!!!!.

I consider myself lucky that I am in touch with most of my batchmates like Sasanka, Bidyut, Ramit, Puneet, Dhruba, Jiten, Arnab, Lata, Neelakshi and some more. In fact in 2003 we had a mini get together, attended by myself, Puneet, Sasanka, Dhruba and of course the host Bidyut.

But then we are not in touch with some like poonam Pawah(last met her on a flight way back in 1989 or so), Mridula, Ravi, Keshav,Poonam Garg etc

Regards
